AUSTIN, Texas, January 04 2023 // The “2023 Annual Sustainable Ecommerce Fulfillment™ Report” was systematically designed to collect 1000 responses from online shoppers to test the hypothesis that consumers prefer to purchase from merchants who are committed to sustainable development.

2023 Sustainable Ecommerce Fulfillment™ Report Highlights:

57% of consumers will accept slower shipping speeds if there is a more sustainable option.

55% of consumers will pay more for a product if there is a more sustainable option.

76% of consumers express greater interest in buying brands that use recycled packaging.

40% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand using recycled packaging.

38% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand that uses compostable materials.

George Wojciechowski delivers the foreword for the report as the Cofounder and CEO of Manifest who commissioned the survey and produced the report. Prior to launching Manifest, George cofounded ShipBob who most recently announced Series E funding of $200MM from Bain Capital Ventures with participation from prior investors including SoftBank. In one year, Manifest has become the 3PL for Definite Articles, a brand started by Aaron Sanandres, cofounder and CEO of shirt company UNTUCKit. Manifest also picks, packs, and ships ecommerce orders for Plant People, PiperWai, Little Hometown, and TopFoxx among others. Manifest has 100% merchant retention. In addition to serving noteworthy ecommerce brands as their third-party logistics (3PL) provider, Manifest publishes industry-wide reports and market analysis about third-party logistics and broader sustainable ecommerce topics.

“According to our survey, the demand to meet consumer preference for sustainable choices is table stakes,” said George, who adds that “Our hope is that you’ll use this report as evidence to prioritize the sustainable transformation of your ecommerce supply chain.”

Manifest partnered with Swytchback to conduct the survey. “We spontaneously engage respondents as they are living their normal lives in an engaging, mobile and media-first environment rather than collecting data from respondents who have previously agreed to take traditional surveys on a compensated basis. This significantly improves data quality and actionability” said Bruce Bower, the CEO and Founder of Swytchback.
